With the rollout of broad jurisdictional data privacy regulations, many organizations that were formerly in relatively unregulated industries now find themselves subject to a litany of rules. While data governance and data privacy efforts are key initiatives to achieve regulatory compliance, more is at stake, as ongoing control of data assets in the organization is also fundamental to achieving optimal business value from data-derived insight. Based on 451 Research's Data & Analytics, Data Governance & Privacy 2022 survey, the top-reported ways that data governance initiatives have added value to organizations are "higher quality of data/insight" (55%) and "faster access to relevant data" (47%).
