Employee engagement heavily affected by autonomy, work tools, managerial relationships

Our Workforce Productivity & Collaboration, Employee Engagement 2023 survey explores the drivers of — and challenges to — employee engagement. We cover key areas such as technology, organizational management, remote work and, for the first time in this study, the anticipated impact of AI and machine learning. We still see the effects of the pandemic, with remote work and a return to the office proving tricky to address. Regarding return-to-work mandates, there seem to be two factions: those who would happily return to the office full-time if necessary and those who would go to lengths to avoid it by leaving the industry, retiring earlier than planned or finding a new job. While we are years into a new mode of work for many organizations, unaddressed issues remain, remote work being only one of many. This report looks at some of the most important findings from the 2023 survey.
