Supply chain specialists recalibrate digital transformation strategies as hopes meet reality

 

Shipping and logistics companies went full speed ahead on digital transformation in 2023, but with some bumps in the path, they are now pulling the reins a bit. With supply chain disruptions still in the "hype cycle" in 2022, shipping and logistics firms went all in on digital transformation. That has been tempered a bit since then, as fewer vendors say that they are executing on a digital transformation strategy. Lack of executive support is now one of the top challenges, indicating that the overeager technology adoption trend of the past is now focused more heavily on practical use cases that can bring near-term return on investment (ROI).
