Businesses cite uncertainty, expect mostly negative impacts from new US administration's policies

By Liam Eagle and Eric Hanselman

Introduction

Most businesses surveyed expect the impact of the new US administration's policies to be negative for both global and US economies. They have similar misgivings (albeit with less certainty) about the impact on their own organizations' operations. The most frequently cited concerns center on trade and regulatory policies, with expected impacts to revenue, operating cost and growth rates. At the same time, policies affecting AI and corporate tax rates are expected to benefit businesses. Expected impacts on business IT operations are less certain, with many organizations expecting no impact or simply not knowing what to expect. These and other trends are illustrated through responses to our US Policy Flash Survey 2025.
