Intent to spend on IT products and services among small and medium-sized enterprises has been flat to negative for nearly three years, but a recent turnaround in overall IT spending sentiment has spurred interest among the SMEs, and the trend is likely to continue in the near term. In our Macroeconomic Outlook, SME Tech Trends, Organizational Dynamics 2025 survey, we look at SMEs’ IT budget plans and technologies in focus. According to 451 Research’s Tech Demand Indicator, which includes insights from SME Tech Trends surveys, the Q1 2025 Tech Demand Indicator score was 55.1, representing an overall positive sentiment (a score greater than 50) and the strongest sentiment score recorded since Q1 2022. It is expected to improve further in the second quarter despite a challenging overall economic scenario.
