Electric mobility should address cost and technology trust barriers to speed adoption

The automotive industry is accelerating its shift toward a connected, electric future, driven by stringent emissions regulations, corporate sustainability mandates and the expectation of ubiquitous in-vehicle connectivity. New vehicle electronic architectures, electric powertrains and vehicle connectivity are enabling digital platforms, promising a new era of energy management, integrated services and even grid stabilization through vehicle-to-grid technology. However, this transition is charged with challenges. Our Endpoints & IoT, Connected Hybrid & Electric Cars 2025 survey reveals a gap between technological readiness and consumer trust. While interest in electric vehicles is strong, concerns over vehicle price, charging infrastructure, battery life cycle and the safety of these emerging technologies are creating headwinds.
