Many enterprises are not in the business of operating datacenters, but do so out of necessity for a variety of reasons. Well-fitted datacenter infrastructure management (DCIM) is critical to smooth operations, and enterprises are still a house divided in terms of choosing self-built or commercial off-the-shelf, with more than half falling somewhere in between. As DCIM software continues to evolve, enterprises require more capabilities and integrations for day-to-day operations and more features to support developing sustainability goals. These issues are reflected in the responses to 451 Research's Datacenter Infrastructure Management 2022 survey. Fielded Sept. 22-Oct. 28, 2022, with a panel of 497 IT decision-makers, the survey focused on enterprise use of DCIM in enterprise-owned datacenters.
