As of yet, no one manufacturer has emerged in the consumer PC and tablet markets to challenge the status quo. The next big thing will likely be needed in the form of a significant technological advance that alters consumer behavior and their relationship with these devices before this changes. In lieu of a technological breakthrough, demographical shifts over time within the consumer base seem most likely to affect specific brands.
