Enterprises generally expect their spending on edge infrastructure and services to increase during 2024, since these technologies are widely viewed as key to transformation efforts. Enterprises using these technologies currently demonstrate a tendency toward private rather than public infrastructure. Along with that preference comes an understandable tendency toward capital expenditure purchasing and hardware vendors as primary suppliers of edge technology. However, even with the prominence of private infrastructure requirements, businesses express a growing desire for edge infrastructure and services to take place in an operational expenditure model. These trends are reflected in the responses to our Edge Infrastructure & Services, Sourcing 2024 survey.
