Organizations that rent colocation space and use colocation services most often regard colocation as a source of reliability and a venue for disaster recovery operations. Interconnection with public cloud providers, telcos or customers has risen to the top three intended outcomes of using colocation services. Colocation users generally see their deployments grow incrementally over time, with density requirements joining reliability and interconnection among the top three drivers for adding colocation space. These and other trends are evident in the results of our Datacenters, Colocation 2024 survey, which looks at the appetite for colocation services, including motivations and requirements, expansion and reduction plans, and adjacent services.
